I am not an electrical engineer, so I do not understand your diagram, but I am very interested in trying this. I have a few questions:
1.) Where does the diode go?
2.) What type of diode?
3.) Your diagram shows "87a", but there is no 87a on that model relay.
4.) Where does the extra wire coming out of the Relay, that you soldered, go?
5.) What do all those symbols mean in the diagram? I am guessing that the little sideways black triangle is the diode, and the squiggle thing is the relay, but what are all the little dots and vertical lines?

Much appreciation and gratitude.

I'll do my best for 2 AM and no diagram LOL!

Welcome, BTW!

On one of the relay leads, need to look, sorry!
2.) What type of diode?
1n4007 is normally used. Others will work but you need one
rated over 400v or it will burn out eventually...

3.) Your diagram shows "87a", but there is no 87a on that model relay.
that is the NC contact that we add.
4.) Where does the extra wire coming out of the Relay, that you soldered, go?
It goes from the added contact (NC) to drive battery NEGATIVE
5.) What do all those symbols mean in the diagram? I am guessing that the little sideways black triangle is the diode,YES and the squiggle thing is the relay,YES but what are all the little dots and vertical lines?
Most of those lines are wires! Check this video (below)

Much appreciation and gratitude.

How come your diagram does not use "87" on the relay, but on imhotep's diagram shows 87 going to the added contact wire?

Aloha

Hmmm... copied your diagram exactly and it does not work for me. I must have flubbed something up. The neon bulb is only to act as an indicator right? It would work without the bulb, I would think. Tried with the bulb just for giggles and still no go. I just get a short when I connect it to the source. Puzzled.

Maybe your diode is backward?

On the Diode, the Silver stripe is on the battery side. Maybe the Diode I have is the wrong one? So far, I understand that this Diode (1n4007) will work, but I can;t find that one. It would be great if I had more information about the diode, because I think you could be right about this being a diode issue.

I think it's bass-ackwards!
Just going from memory, but it will not hurt it
if you reverse it to see, but if it still does not
work cut the power (just in case).

Neither video or diagram was mine, just
links to known data! Did you like Lidmotor best?

I like the Libmotor diagram. I will try reversing the diode.

The arrow denotes the way electrons CANNOT go, arrow hits wall and stops...
You can test run without a second (charging) battery, that will make the neon lite
up, but the neon is optional, lets you know the circuit is working!
