Probably not. the coil although wound round four posts is actually a single bifilar coil. The connection between the windings you propose would not be as good.

I did some checking and found some people that wired it the way you suggest and got it to work, one claimed it ran with more power.

The conventional way is like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsKlUV-M ... dded#at=25

Imhoteps videos are posted here http://www.youtube.com/user/kojsza#p/u

I'm from Russia (UTC+3). I live near far from Moscow: 55 km from MKAD (Moscow Ring road). I live in a town Electrostal.
So my native language is Russian, but the same.....

What a trouble happends with me! Buy the fan and it's non-demountable. Less then 10 dollars, but it is notable at all.
Tomorrow I will go in Moscow to buy parts: neon lamp (here all of them - 12V or 3V), transistor etc....

The only way to find out is to build two fans, one to Imhoteps design and one to the new design and then compare how they work.

Fans can be found here from about 1.5 USD but normally 2 to 3 USD. I have not found much difference with them and some obviously came from the same factory.

I live in the Philippines and having a fan thar runs for almost nothing is a real bonus here
