Not being totally educated in electronics I have a couple of questions.

I recently purchased a gas generator to recharge my tent trailer batteries if I don't get enough sunlight to be charged via the solar panel.

I also use a 4000 gph evacuator (12v DC, 20a draw) water pump to provide water to my gold mining equipment.

The generator does not have a 12v DC port. I was considering a direct conversion via a bridge rectifier to provide DC to the pump.

If 120v AC is applied to a bridge rectifier does that mean that I have 120v DC?
What components would I need to step the DC output down to 12v?

Thanks for your input....AlbertaGold

You will need a transformer to step down the voltage.

A battery charger capable of delivering the current you need will be the cheapest option as they are mass produced and contain a transformer and rectification.

Thanks for the quick reply mbrownn...

I was coming to the same conclusion as my research proceeded last night.

I was originally trying to avoid using my battery charger because of the large clamps that would be need to be isolated when connecting to my control board. Easy enough to do...

Thanks again for your input...AlbertaGold
