Inductive and capacitive are similar in some ways but different in others but the key point is they both can store and release energy. Capacitors loose half their energy in the collection and release of current, inductors are more efficient than that.

We call it inductive kickback but remember, if the current is allowed to, the inductor will continue to discharge and go negative. This below the line part of the oscillation is almost equal in energy to the initial charge and discharge of the inductor on the first half of the oscillation.

We have in effect an input of 1 followed by an output of 1 then an input of 1 negative followed by an output of 1 negative. We only had to pay for the initial input of 1. COP of almost 3

This works with a capacitor but half the energy is lost in each oscillation giving us at best a COP if 1.5. Now take the ohmic and iron losses off and you are close to a COP of 1.

If you charge a capacitor via an inductor and diode you get close to a COP of 1 in the charge. Now charge an inductor in the same way and you get a COP of 2 as the primary inductor will go from 1v to -1v giving 2v in the secondary and so on.

Take some time to think about this
